Privacy policy

This policy explains how Cowan Services LLC (“we”), which operates CommercialAutoInsurance.net, handles your information.

What we collect

When you request quotes we collect what you enter — vehicle type and count, state and ZIP, operating details, USDOT/MC numbers, current insurance status, business name, and your name, email and phone number — along with the exact consent language you agreed to. We also record the page you came from, campaign tags in the link you used, your browser type, and a one-way hash of your IP address used to prevent spam. If you call a number on this site, the call may be recorded and we log the call's time, duration and the number you called from.

Lookups in our DOT/MC tool are sent to FMCSA's public data service; we don't store the numbers you search with your identity.

How we use it

• To share your quote request with one participating licensed insurance agency that writes commercial auto in your state, so it can contact you.
• To prevent fraud, spam and duplicate requests, and to keep records of consent.
• To understand which pages and campaigns are useful, using aggregated analytics.

Who we share it with

We share quote requests with the participating agency that receives your request, and with service providers that host our website, database and phone system. Because agencies pay us for requests, sharing your request may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under some state privacy laws. We do not sell your information to data brokers or marketing lists.

Your choices, including “do not sell or share”

You can ask us to stop sharing your request, to tell you what we have, or to delete it — and you can opt out of any future sale or sharing of your information — through our contact page or by emailing help@commercialautoinsurance.net. You can tell any agency to stop contacting you at any time, and reply STOP to opt out of text messages.

Retention

We keep quote requests and consent records for up to 5 years to document consent, then delete them.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to operate the site and may use Google Analytics to understand usage in aggregate. You can block cookies in your browser.

Children

This site is intended for adults running businesses. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
